Who We Are

About APRNet

From evidence-based policy research and climate-smart agricultural analysis to capacity building and public-private stakeholder engagement — APRNet works across the entire agricultural knowledge value chain. We partner with researchers, government agencies, civil society and NGOs to deliver measurable, lasting impact on Nigeria’s food systems and rural livelihoods.

Established in 2009 at a meeting of Nigeria’s agricultural research policy stakeholders and facilitated by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) under the CIDA-funded Agricultural Policy Support Facility, APRNet has grown into Nigeria’s most credible independent agricultural policy research network.

Our Mission

To facilitate the conduct, communication and utilisation of research results in agriculture and rural development in Nigeria.

Our Vision

To become an authoritative and independent forum promoting evidence-based agricultural and rural development policies in Nigeria.

Research Independence

All APRNet outputs are rigorously peer-reviewed and free from political or commercial bias.

Inclusive Collaboration

We unite researchers, policymakers, private sector actors and civil society across all of Nigeria's geopolitical zones.

Policy Impact

Our ultimate measure of success is the tangible uptake of research findings in agricultural governance decisions.

Born from a stakeholder meeting, grown into Nigeria's foremost agric policy voice

APRNet was established at a meeting of Nigeria's agricultural research policy stakeholders, facilitated by IFPRI under the CIDA-funded Agricultural Policy Support Facility. A 9-member Executive Council of researchers, policy experts and civil society representatives was elected to govern the network — setting the standard for independent, evidence-driven agricultural policy advocacy that APRNet upholds to this day.
